friendships don't last forever

"I never thought I would one day make that comment, but I came to realize that friends do come and go, and that's alright. People come into our lives in different times, for different reasons. Some stay a while until your paths separate, some cross your path for a short time to be there or because they needed you there for a life lesson. Some join you and walk a parallel path and even while the paths appear further apart, you still walk the same direction and maintain a distant friendship. Others merge onto your path full speed for a while and disturb your peace, those are toxic friends who only bring negative or distructive energy into your life, change gear and make them walk away so you can regain control of your path.

Many individuals will cross your path, some will stay, some will go. All had their purpose as you did in their lives. A true friend is one who knows you inside out and no matter how far geographically, or how long the silence between phone calls, when you resume communication, it's like you just talked yesterday. You know their parents phone number and they know yours. When you meet, even in front of life difficulties, you act as a soft place to fall for each other. You bring the best out from each other.

I learned not to hold on to friends, but to let friendship take its course. If a friendship ends, I am grateful for the time and move on. If I end a friendship to keep my life clear from negative influence, I am grateful for what ever that person taught me.

I used to sadden over lost friendships, but life has taught me to let go and know that each one had a reason to be and a purpose in my life".
