BALI BABY! -1st Day(21st) (21st March-24th March)
. Hey guys! I'm sure most of you wanna know what happened in Bali right??!! Right right right?! I took quite a number of pictures in Bali and at one point of time nearly lost my camera! Thank goodness the kind Balinese lady returned it to me otherwise, say goodbye to all these pictures I actually took. There are tons of pictures actually, all separated into 4 different cameras. My camera, Ili's camera, Bert's camera and my underwater camera(photos need to be developed and scanned). So right now, the photos below are from my camera. I'll be adding pictures from other cameras to a new blog entry when I receieve the pictures! :) . Soo, first day of Bali was pretty much relaxing. We didn't do any water sports. Water sports were done on the 2nd day or was it the 3rd? hahaha. Ok wait. the 3rd! If you're thinking of going to Bali on a holiday people, lemme tell you something guys, be prepared to get burnt. Trust me. I applied tons of sunblock on my face and body and yet I still ended up with a bikini tan line. If you think Singapore is hot, wait till you're in Bali. You'll be super duper grateful for the weather in Singapore. That was exactly how I felt the minute I landed back on Sunny Island Singapore on the 24th! I was just so in love with the weather. . Did you know it RARELY rains in Bali? It's true. I asked some of the locals there and they say that rain in Bali is really a rare sight. Only comes a few times a year, maybe around December or so? That's why Bali is an ideal destination for those who LOVE the sun. Truth be told, I didn't know Bali was gonna be THAT hot and that sunny. If you hate the sun, don't bother going to Bali. Haha, i'm dead serious. If you love surfing, head over to Kuta Beach. The waves are magnificent. Went there on the 2nd day. Pictures in Bert's camera, so I'll blog about Kuta Beach(2nd day) once I receive them. In the meantime, enjoy looking at the photos below taken on the 1st day. There were more but I don't want your eyes to hurt(how thoughtful of me). HAHA. K la k la. HAPPY LOOOKING. .
Before taking off. I was so freaking excited the moment I saw the Plane! The last time I took a plane was in Secondary 3, and that was like 3 years ago!!
Oh soooo HAPPY! :D :D :D LOOK AT HOW HAPPY I LOOK! :D CAN SEE ANOT?! LOL
BABY LOOKS SO HAPPY ALSO. WELL HE BETTER BE! OUR FIRST HOLIDAY TOGETHER KNOW. LOL.
Walking through the 'tunnel' towards the plane. Heart was beating super fast during this stage because I was just minutes away from entering the aeroplane and FLYING to BALI BABY! :D
THE PLANEEE! :D We took AirAsia by the way. Too poor for Singapore Airlines uh. HAHA.
On the plane we were served a packet of mineral water and a small packet of Garlic Peanuts. It was kinda pathetic but hey, at least it's still food. That's what Baby said. HAHA.
Up, up, and away! . . . . After 2 hours . . . WE FINALLY REACHED DENPASAR-BALI! OH MY FREAKING GOD!
At the airport, we met up with Bert and Ili and all 4 of us took a cab to our Villa! :D
& HERE WE ARE! BALI ROYAL! :D there are like only 13 villas and suites in total!
Checking in.
Sorry for the bad lighting. :P
The moment Ili and I checked into our room, we were greeted with a Welcome Drink from the Hotel! P.S, there is no alcohol content. It's some kind of juice. Really nice and sweet.
Our bed! The villa was really nice. Big and spacious unlike an ordinary hotel room. Sadly, each villa didn't have it's own swimming pool. There was only 1 main pool. But then again, it was alright la. Know why? That's cos, there aren't many people staying in Bali Royal since there are like 13 villas and suites in total. That means, we kinda had the pool to ourselves.
Cafe/Bar by the swimming pool.
Right outside our hotel was the beach! It was freaking beautiful! I swear, and the beach wasn't even crowded at all!
That's how the outside of each Villa looks like if you're wondering. Somewhat like a Hut.
After chilling in the room for a bit, we all decided to head out to explore Bali! :) Went shopping here and there. The bargaining is awesome. It's awesome how you can like bargain from a 80,000 rupiah priced good to 40,000 rupiah. Sometimes bargains can be more than half the original price! The walk-away technique always works(trust me). LOL. Learnt this from Baby and Bert. Each time the shop-keeper refuses to accept their bargain, they'll walk away. Within a few seconds, the shop-keeper will call for them to come back and accept their offer. HAHA. Pretty smart of them. But hey, it works! ;)
Had dinner at this restaurant. We were impressed with their service. But as the days passed we kinda realized that every restaurant in Bali seemed pretty high-class. It was fine dining in Bali everyday! :)
Appetizers. Spring roll, Siew Mais & Caesar's Salad.
Oh yeah the staff of the restaurant placed a flower in everyone's hair. The boys looked so adorable with the flowers! Hahaha.
The food there was really really yummy! It was money well spent, that's for sure. :) After dinner, we shopped somemore and explored a very hm... strange shop. . . . Look at what this shop sells. . .
Mega ew right? LOL. I was shocked and my jaw just dropped open when I walked through a section filled with tons of statues of dicks.
Look at this. They even have a Dick bottle opener. You find this weird? Wait till you visit other shops in Bali. There are quite a number of shops that sold stuff like these. Even in the AIRPORT! Maybe it's some kinda custom of theirs? Dick statues? I dunno. :P
Okay, shan't gross you readers out any longer. In fact, I'm just grossing myself out. Hahaha.
Walked past tons of restaurants along the streets of Bali. All the restaurants were side by side, and every restaurant looked so so sooooo good! Competition amongst these restaurants must be really tough everyday huh, because really, all the restaurants just looked so high class. Each time we walked past a restaurant, we'd be invited to look at the menu. Got so tired of answering them that we just ignored, except for my oh so friendly boyfriend who kept greeting and smiling at everyone who talked to us. HAHA. His indonesian slang damn good also.
I feel stupid really. I didn't know a lobster actually looks like this before cooked. I always thought a lobster was red. Ili told me, they turn red after being cooked. Is it?? Wow. didn't know that. ahaha. It looks too pretty to be eaten!
After walking around for quite a bit, it was already around 10pm. Our feet were aching and we badly needed to relax. We headed to a Massage Parlour and paid 120,000 rupiah for a 1 hour foot massage. That's about $20 SGD. But the lady who massaged my feet ah, i felt like telling her to stop talking so much to her other colleagues and just massage my goddamn feet. But me being the nice girl that I am, just kept quiet about it. HAHA.
. The really friendly guy who massaged Baby's feet. Baby called him his new bestfriend, because during the whole 1 hour, while Bert, Ili and I slept, Baby was having a really nice Indonesian conversation with this fella. HAHA. But I guess being friendly paid off because the guy who massaged Baby's feet received a 20,000 rupiah tip from baby. How generous of him. If you think that's little, wait till I tell you this! . Baby asked the guy how much he actually earns a month, and well I don't really know how to convert this to Rupiah but all I remember was Baby telling me that he only earns SGD$40 a month. Oh my, isn't that very little? Doesn't that mean that all Indonesian maids who earn about $300-$400 a month in Singapore Dollars are considered pretty rich back in Indonesia? Haha, just a thought. Anyway right after massaging, Ili and I just crashed on our beds and fell into a deeeeep slumber. What a day well spent in Bali. A relaxing day at that. :) Will blog about Day 2 and 3 of Bali soon! . . Lots of Love, Sofia Dendroff
