Perth Adventures (Part III)
...................................................................

Hi lovely blog readers! I bet you're finally glad that I'm blogging about my Perth Trip again! You asked for it, so here it is(to all the impatient blog readers who kept spamming my formspring asking me to quickly blog! hahaha!).

So Day 5 of my Perth trip was a last minute planned trip to Fremantle.

"Fremantle is renowned for its well-preserved architectural heritage, including convict-built colonial-era buildings, an old jetty and port, and prisons; presenting a variety and unity of historic buildings and streetscapes".

Woke up in the early afternoon(bad idea to ever start your day in Perth because most places close by 5pm, even shopping malls). I know right.. 5pm?!? But I guess that's the difference between living in Perth and living in Singapore. In Singapore, you work 5 times a week. In perth, working days are just 4 times a week! I guess that's why they say Perth is one of the most liveable countries. Besides it's awesome working hours, you get paid so much more over there than you do in Singapore.

Did I tell you about the awesome salaries offered there? Working in Macdonalds in Singapore gets you paid around $3.50 per hour, but working in a Macdonalds in Perth gets you paid around $17 per hour or more if i'm correct! How awesome right? And regular waitressing jobs usually gets you paid around that price too. I've a friend who's working in a small yoghurt shop over there, and she gets paid $12/hour and even 12 is considered very low or still, a little underpaid. And mind you, all that is in Australian dollars. Imagine converting it to Singapore dollars(multiply it by 1.3).
Hahah, okay now how on earth did I end up talking about money? Okay, let's get back to the main purpose of this blog entry. And that is?

TO TELL YOU ABOUT MY AWESOME DAY IN FREMANTLE?!

ahem, so where was I? Oh yeah right.. So I woke up to an empty house. Sheryl headed over to her classmate Janel's place to 'use her electricity', since there was a power cut in Dianella because of some construction work going on. Thankfully though, the power cut was only for a short while! PHEW. Otherwise I'd have to bathe in freezing cold water. It gets so cold, even in the house, that walking around barefoot proves to be really torturous. Thankfully I brought socks with me, so I wore 2 layers of socks to keep my feet warm. It's amazing how I survive in shorts when I'm out in Perth.

So after getting ready, I took a bus down to meet Sheryl at her friend's place first because Janel was supposed to bring me out today. Hehe, i'm so lucky I have friends in Perth! ^^
So, for the first time, I took a bus all by myself. It was pretty scary because it's not like Singapore.. even if you get lost, it's still easy to find your way back.

Thankfully, I found the bus stop. And found myself waiting endlessly for Sheryl to arrive. And just when she called.. the phone got cut off before she could even say a word. Awesome.. her battery died! So.. i waited and waited and waited for about 30 minutes, and still no sign of Sheryl. So what did I do? I had my trusty Perth guidebook with me, and I decided to just head to Fremantle ON MY OWN(like a champion). Soon after, Sheryl called and told me that she waited for me to come... AT THE WRONG BUS STOP. Zzzzzz. this girl needs to be smacked. hahah! So I texted Janel and we agreed to just meet at Fremantle! :)

Luckily Fremantle was the very last stop, so it was pretty easy to get there.

TADAH! I REACHED!! :D How awesome are the buildings? Even the train station looks super grand. Went inside and saw this...(picture below)

FOOD!! I was so hungry I couldn't take it anymore so I had my first taste of Smith's potato chips.

It tasted just like Lay's, but somewhat better in a way? And the texture of the chips was different. It was the bomb diggity bomb. I blame Smith's for my slight weight gain. I had this almost every single day. HAHA! Awesome chips!

Wonder how long these ciggy's have been lying here for... ew..

So, instead of just waiting for Janel, I decided to just explore Fremantle a little bit on my own first. :)

Ah... I just love Perth's weather. Sunny but yet still cold and breezy!

Now.. this is too cool. :) So they use this to pay for parking. Unlike us, we use fugly parking coupons. Haha.

LOVE THIS BUILDING. :D SO PRETTY!

So after walking for abit, taking photos and whatnot, my tummy could not take it any longer. I was so hungry I headed for the Sushi store!

COME TO ME SUSHI!!!! I don't know why but I find it weird when caucasians in general eat Sushi. Hahah, maybe it's just cos I'm too used to seeing Singaporeans in Sushi places in Singapore, like Sakae Sushi etc..

So I bought my favourite! Tuna! :) Look at how huge it is! Like honestly, 2 of these can be a meal already! Hahah. I wanted to save my appetite for proper lunch with Janel so I ate about half and kept the remainder in my bag(once again, a very bad move. My whole bad smelt like tuna after)

LOOK AT HOW BLUE THE SKY IS! ahhhh! I just love it! Singapore's sky is so white. :(

So after awhile, Janel finally came! Yay! :D

My outfit for the day. Amazing how I survived in shorts. And look how much browner I got. Hahah! It's weird though, I don't really take notice of the sun because the weather is still cold. Only realized how much darker I became when I got back to Singapore.

Meet Janel! :D super awesome girl! It was the second time I was meeting her(well the first doesn't count because we were in a club when we first met so we didn't talk much!), and we instantly clicked!

And the camwhoring begins!

Because we both were hungry, we decided to just head to Cicerellos for fish and chips! I decided to go there because some of you guys told me to right?! Hahah! Thanks for the suggestions!

We happened to walk pass Cottlesloe beach(well I guess this is just one part of it).

Really beautiful beach. I never saw water that was so blue before, other than the water I saw in Bali but that doesn't count la. I'M IN AUSTRALIA!

Look at how happy I was. I remember standing there facing the sea, breathing in the fresh air and making a wish. :) Wonder if it'll come true.

I planned to go swimming in the beach initially when I decided to go to Perth but I chickened out when Sheryltold me about the recent Shark attack that happened. Yeah... there are sharks in the sea which makes it pretty dangerous to swim in the sea. People actually die and get eaten by sharks.. scary huh? I can't imagine how it feels like to have a shark with razor sharp teeth just gnawing away at my flesh, breaking every bone in my body. :( :(

The scarier part? Shark attacks are very common as well. So if you decide to go swimming at the beach, make sure you ask the locals if it's safe first, although I'd still not recommend it though(or ask the locals what are the beaches that are the safest to swim in. I think Rockingham would be pretty safe! )

The beach was pretty empty though. I'm guessing it's cos we were probably at the quieter side of the beach(or maybe the less pretty side of the beach, i don't know! hahah). But nevertheless, it was still beautiful.

Saw this guy sitting down and secretly took a picture of him! He was so cute! I swear he looked like one of those movie stars you see in Hollywood films.

Boy do I miss Perth so much :(

So after our short pitstop at Cottesloe beach, we headed for our Cicerellos.

Saw this shop and got reminded of one of my blog readers who told me to try the Fish & Chips here! Sadly I didn't, because the plan was Cicerellos! :( But maybe next time I will!

YAY! :D WE FINALLY REACHED! The building sorta reminds me of a Ski Lounge though.. doesn't it? haha. Imagine if Australia had snow and the pavements were covered with snow.. the place would look even more beautiful! AUSTRALIAAA, WHY YOU NO SNOW?!

I find it funny how every Fish and Chips shop say they're Western Australia's Number 1 Fish and Chips! Hahah really clever marketing gimmick.

Cicerellos is sorta like a Fast food joint I guess, because you gotta queue up to place your orders! But the one thing I loved about the place was the incredible view from where we were sitting(which you'll see in awhile).

TADAH!! :D

Beautiful isn't it?

This is my trusty Perth guidebook that I bought before I departed from Changi Airport ^^

So we were given this really cool Pager that would beep when my food was ready. And when it did beep, we'd have to go collect it from the counter! Awesome technology.

There were also plenty of seagulls around the area as well! For some reason, it felt like I was on a ship. o.O

After awhile the food arrived! We ordered Fish and chips and the garlic butter prawns meal(which was insanely good!)

LOOK AT THE PRAWNS! Imagine fresh prawns dipped in a buttery kinda sauce. Heaven!!

And the awesome fish and chips I've been hearing about!

When I tried the fish, I knew right away why I've been hearing so much about this place. Besides the awesome ambience that this place provides, the food was really good. The fish was so fresh and succulent. It's crispy on the outside and so juicy on the inside. It's like a sudden burst of flavour just explodes in your mouth after a bite I swear! It tasted extra good with the Tartar and sweet chilli sauce! :) I'd highly recommend this place if you go to Fremantle!

Here's a little VLOG i took also! :)

So after an awesome lunch, we decided to just explore the place for a little bit and take more pictures! :)

Saw this and got super excited! MUSSEL BAR!! I LOVE MUSSELS LA! :D

We saw this really bright red Ferris wheel and decided to just sit on it! Haha really impromptu decision but I'm glad I did because the view from high up was breathtaking.

Such a tourist. Hahah!

I felt like a little girl all over again when I was walking up the ramp towards the ferris wheel! I was jumping with so much excitement! It's been really long since I last sat on a ferris wheel! I've always wanted to try the Singapore Flyer but never did because of all the bad reviews I keep hearing. How do you guys find it? Because I'd still like to sit on the Singapore Flyer one day! :)

This just blows me away la! Sigh. if only it went higher! :(

Sadly the ferris wheel only went a few rounds! It costed us 12 bucks each to sit on it, which is sooo not cheap. But hell, it was worth it anyways! :)

After we got off, we saw a playground! The first thing Janel did? She ran towards it la! And I mean, literally running! I was wondering 'what is this girl tryna do uh', and then it all became clearer why she did..

To climb up on top of this! Hahah, I guess no matter how old we get, there'll always be a little kid in us.

Our day at Freo(Fremantle is commonly known as 'Freo' among the locals), was pretty short because I woke up late(kay my fault..), and like I said, most places closed by 5pm. Wanted to shop at the Fremantle market but didn't get a chance to because it closed already. :( Oh well...

Don't know why I took a picture of this but I guess it's cos it's pretty cool I guess and not a kinda car that you get to see everyday in Singapore. Haha! I guess you can say that Singapore is really modern. The kinda cars you see in Perth are pretty old fashioned and most of the cars look the same too.

Right after I took this picture, there was this insane Australian dude(who looked a little hobo-ish to me, especially with his dirty long blonde hair, and his torn and dirty clothing), who suddenly just stood in front of my camera sticking his tongue out all. It was a weird encounter and yet people like these can actually be pretty dangerous especially if you're roaming a foreign land on your own in the middle of the night.

My point? If you're in a foreign land on your own, be wary of the people around you and always make sure you're in a group(with guys), because people like these do exist (mad people who could potentially harm you).

See how deserted Freo looks. That's cos this picture was taken after 5pm.

Saw this really cool truck that looks alot like one of the toy cars that my younger brother used to have at home! Was super cool seeing it in LIFE-FORM. haha!

On our way back to the train station to head to Janel's apartment to meet up with Sheryl. :)

Even the dustbins are cool.I'm just weird like that la. Everything that looks different from Singapore fascinates me. haha

You'll never see a train this empty in Singapore. Especially not at 5-ish or 6-ish! And the seats are so comfy also! :D I love the trains in Perth, hands down~

We managed to catch a little bit of the sunset in the train! :) so beautiful..

And that pretty much summed up my day 5! :) Of course after this, it was a long walk from Subiaco's train station all the way to Janel's apartment. I ended up with blisters on my feet and had to walk barefoot up the hill in Subiaco(I can't believe I forgot to take pictures, but the place was really nice lah! Sigh.. pity I forgot to take pictures. I blame the blistering feet). What was worse was that when we were almost nearing the apartment after a walk that seemed like forever.... I lost my hat. @#$%^

And so we back tracked and walked all the way down the hill again. It was my favourite hat! :( THANK GOD WE FOUND IT. Sitting nicely on the pavement! -.-

So...After chilling at Janel's for abit, Sheryl and I took a cab back to Dianella, the last time I'd ever see Dianella and also the last night I'd spend in Sheryl's apartment because the next day... I'LL BE MOVING INTO MY OWN APARTMENT! WOOHOO! Bet you guys can't wait to see how it looks right? Well.. you're gonna have to wait for the next blog entry!! :) Told you guys, my entire Perth trip is gonna take a long long time to finish blogging about. Hahah.
