Perth Adventures Part V (Part Five)
........................................................................

So here's a continuation of how my Perth trip went! Gosh, I can't believe it's Part 5 already! Hahah and this is still not the last of it! *gulps*. I'll try my best to remember every single detail of my trip. For some reason, it all seems a little blurry to me now. Time for me to take memory booster pills already! Hahah. So let's continue! If you've not read my previous blog entries(Part 1 to 4), I suggest you go read those first! Click 'Favourites' above my blog banner and scroll down till you find the links that'll lead you to the various blog entries! :)

So Day 1 of Perth I moved into Dianella. Sheryl was really nice to have let me stay in her apartment along with her roommate whom I didn't know at all(and she, too was nice and very welcoming to me. It felt very homely because there were nights when she'd be watching television on the couch and she'd invite me to join her- when I barely knew her! Had a few laughs while watching The Big Bang Theory and whatnot). After about 5 nights, I finally moved into my own apartment, I just wanted to have some alone time. Just some me time. Pretty much the main reason why I went to Perth in the first place. To find myself and to do some soul searching and just leave everything in the past. My sadness. My anger.. everything. Of course, that doesn't really apply anymore since well... hehe, I'm no longer a single girl anymore. *jumps around happily and dances*.

So yeah if you didn't know why I went to Perth, now you know. To pathetically forget how upset I was feeling back in Singapore, Hahah. But in a way, I'm glad for everything that happened. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason in life. One day I'll blog about why I feel that way. For now, let's talk PERTH. haha.

So on Day 6, I moved into St Catherines Colledge opposite The University of Western Australia! My very own apartment! I was so happy and psyched because it was really quite interesting to be living alone. I can almost imagine how it'll feel like if I had my own house one day. Hahah. I felt very independent for sure! :) So on Day 7 if I'm correct, I met up with Julius and I suggested we head to the Zoo! I don't know what's with me and Zoos. I get really excited just seeing animals, trees.. basically nature. I'm someone who appreciates nature I guess! Chuck me in a shopping mall..I'd probably be bored after awhile. Chuck me in a beautiful park and I probably won't. Weird aye? How I'm a girl and I'd much rather spend my free time enjoying nature than shopping. I've never really been much of a shopaholic.I don't go out to shop(super rare). I shop while I head out(likeif I happen to see something nice along the way or something).

DAY 7 - Perth Zoo
...........................................

The view of the City.

This building is one of Perth's attractions: The Swan Bell Tower. Didn't really go upclose to take a good shot of it sadly.

Using Sweep Panorama mode on my camera! Coool feature! :) Too bad the picture wasn't vertically wide enough. haha

So to get to the Perth Zoo, we had to go there by ferry Pretty cool right? So we booked tickets for 2 via 'Captain Cook Cruises'. It's just like paying for a bus ticket. Not expensive at all because the journey's pretty short too.

Pretty view. :)

This is how their watercoolers look like! I thought it was a sink at first, but it's actually a watercooler. When I saw this, I was actually really glad Singapore had better watercoolers. Hahah. Honestly, not to diss or what, but how do you honestly drink from there? Imagine if it was a woman who had her makeup nicely done, her lipstick done, and she drinks out of this? The water is just gonna splash her entire face. lol

Ohhh I did take a close up picture of the Swan Bell Tower. haha, sotong me.

So I wanted to take pictures of Julius but the fella was being paranoid because his hair wasn't cut so he didn't wanna be in any of the pictures! -.-

Time to board the Ferry! Woohoo! I was like a little kid I swear. heh. I love boat rides! The best boat ride I've ever taken was back in Bali when I travelled by speed boat for about 30 minutes. Super exhilarating!

So after the boat ride, we had to walk up a slope, turn right, turn left etcetc, and after a walk that seemed like forever(okay maybe I'm exaggerating. haha)... WE FINALLY REACHED THE PERTH ZOO!

Wahlaoey, how empty you want? hahah! It's like noone bothers about the animals anymore! >:( or am I the only one who bothers? hmph. Poor animals.

So the inside of the Zoo was pretty simple I guess. Nothing as fancy as Singapore's Zoo. I've gotta hand it to Singapore la. And c'mon, all of us(if you're Singaporean), you've gotta be freaking proud of our zoo, because it looks freaking amazing doesn't it? I know I am! Like honestly, we have elephant rides, horse carriage rides, pony rides, animal shows, feeding sessions, photo taking sessions with the animals in the zoo and so on! This Zoo didn't have any of those sadly. :( No animal rides, no animal shows etc. I guess the concept of the zoo is to basically see the animals and then yeah.. get out of the zoo. Hahah.

The Perth Zoo 's main attraction however is the 'Australian Bush Walk' through recreations of different Australian eco-systems, from the arid interior to a tropical rainforest. Pretty awesome if you ask me. I even patted a Kangaroo!!!!

The cool thing about going around Perth when it's during the cold season is that no matter how much you walk, no matter how tired you feel, no matter how much your feet ache, the one thing that helps when you're in that exhausting situation is the fact that the weather is still very cooling and you hardly sweat! I loved the weather! My makeup didn't melt at all !

What a pretty bird! :D

Gah I really love animals. You know when I was younger I always dreamt of opening my own zoo? I was so in love with zoos, I started buying computer games where I could build my very own Zoo! Psychotic much. hahaha

So after awhile we had our lunch as well! Nothing really fancy, just finger food! Julius had a burger and I had nuggets and fries. :)

And the adventure continues...

Sadly I wasn't able to take picture of every single detail or part of the zoo because my battery was dying and so I had to preserve the battery as much as possible!

Saw these super cute giant turtles too! They may look small but they're honestly HUGE!!

Wonder how much they weigh...

During this part of the adventure, I got pretty excited when I saw some animals all caged up. First thing I did? I went upfront to take pictures! The one thing I didn't realize was that as I was doing so, I was blocking everyone else behind me who were there first and who were looking at the animals/trying to take a picture. Whoops. The kiasu Singaporean me came out. hahah!

Camwhoring is a must!

In the end I managed to convince him to take a picture with me because otherwise the entire entry would just be my face, my face, my face. :P and I know some of you are probably sick of it. LOL

And sadly after this picture my camera died! :P We explored the Australian Bushwalk and I even took a picture with a kangaroo using Julius' phone but it's not uploaded yet! :P Anyway the experience was really fun because like I said, it's always the company that makes an outing fun! After the Zoo trip, I headed back to the apartment to bum around, watch television, cook myself some maggi, read magazines, use the laptop and then head to bed. It's really nice to be able to do all this by myself. It's a feeling I can't describe. Yes it's pretty scary sometimes at night, especially since I'm in a foreign land, but the feeling of freedom was really refreshing! :) For a moment, my rented apartment really felt like it was mine, and solely mine.

The Next Day - DAY 8
....................................................

The next day, I went out with Christabel for awhile in the afternoon! I was in desperate need of food in the apartment because I didn't have enough food to last me. Now I know why I gained weight when I was in Perth. When I was hungry, I'd go to the snack machine in the hallway of St Catherine's and buy Chips. I think I had chips every single day! Hahah! And sooo, Bel was really nice to have brought me to a supermarket to go grocery shopping! :)

Bus stop outside UWA.

Sittin' on the magic school bus~~

Isn't the wall just beautiful? I wonder who painted that!

So in the mall we spotted this little cafe that sold gourmet chocolate and cakes. So we decided to sit down and have a small bite. :)

Pretty Bel! :D

Okay sorry for the horrible attempt at Food photography. Hahah, but yeah this was what we had. AND HOLY CRAP LA, THIS WAS SOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD! It's caramelized on the outside so it's a little warm. But when you take a bite, it's cold on the inside and gahhh, i don't know how to describe it! It was just a sudden burst of flavour when you take a bite. Mix of warm and cold in your mouth all at once. It was sooo good I bought some to bring back to the apartment. Heheh.

We then tried this Hot Chocolate Lava cake as well! :)

Oozing with warm chocolate! Insanely good as well!

After that we walked around the mall for awhile and took a pit stop at this candy store!

Was so happy looking at all the candy I immediately grabbed a bag and dumped loads of candy, gummies, chocolate inside. Another reason why I gained weight... hahaha

After that, it was time to head over to the Supermarket! :D

Look at how much stuff we got! All the junkfood lovers! Hahah! And just look at those boys in the picture la! or rather THAT BOY. HAHAH! retard! LOL you meet all sorts of strange people in Australia.

We were totally have a ball of a time in the supermarket! As you can see from our faces. Just laughing here and there... who knew you'd actually be able to have THAT MUCH FUN just going grocery shopping?hahah

And look at this! It's a self-checkout counter! No cashiers around, so you scan all the items yourself and then there's a coin/note slot to make payment too! They even accept cards and whatnot. How cool right? The world is getting so advanced these days. Next time food will come in capsule form. Maybe in the year 3000. :P

So after shopping, Bel and took the bus back to St Catherine's College! It's so convenient hanging with her because she stays in a dormitory in St Cats as well. :)

Debbie came over to my room for awhile also to help us with our stuff! :) So after chilling for abit, they left and I was left all alone in my room! What did I do?

.
.
.
.
.

EAT OF COURSE! Nothing to do = EAT. LOL.
Made for myself Mac and cheese! THE BEST INVENTION EVER. IT WAS SUPER DELICIOUS! Anyone knows if they sell this in Singapore and where I can find it?? I miss eating this already. :(

So nice and cheesy *drooling*.

So.. after chilling in my room for abit, I got dressed up and met up with Debbie, Christabel, Reuben and their other friends whom they introduced me to! We headed to Burswood Entertainment Complex at night, another major tourist attraction! :)

Debbie and I in the cab!

So basically all of us went to Burswood Casino! I wanted to see how a casino looked like because well.. I've never seen it before! Too bad I couldn't take pictures of the inside of the Casino! It's not allowed. I actually did la, but I was caught by one of the Burswood staff and was asked to delete the photos due to security reasons I guess. :(

Reuben and Bel!

Group shot. :)

After the casino, there were a couple of strange incidences that happened to me. Not to brag or anything but like I said, I'm going to share with you guys my FULL Perth Experience so whether or not you like it, well.. that's up to you!

I stayed back for abit to wait up for Julius since he was working in Burswood and so everyone else left first! Bad bad bad move. After they left, I sat down outside the casino just minding my own business, when this Scottish/Irish(totally forgot), who was half drunk, suddenly sat in front of me and started talking to me!! He was introducing himself, asking me where I was from and etcetc. And the WHOLE TIME, AND I MEAN THE WHOLE TIME(not even kidding), he kept saying "Ahh... you're so beautiful! It's like you're not even real". Then he'd pause with his droopy eyes(drunk probably), and he looked at me again and then he said"Ahh..you're so beautiful! Are you real?". THE WHOLE TIME. I was still pretty scared, although was a little flattered, but still.. this guy could have been a rapist!! A killer!! A robber!! I wouldn't know! You can never be too sure and be too trusting of people you don't even know. Thankfully he left after awhile.. and just when I thought I could have some peace waiting for my friend Julius, another dude sat in front of me!
This time he was Australian. And he said the same thing. Except he wasn't drunk, and he didn't ask me if I was real. -.- But honestly dude, as flattering as it was, I was very very creeped out! Especially when it was around 2am plus. Imagine la. If you were in my shoes, you'd be scared too, especially if you're all alone! Thankfully these 2 Asian guys helped me out. Hahaha. Asians to the rescue!

I kinda mouthed a 'Help me' to the Asian guy who was sitting nearby because he noticed the whole drama. And so, thank God, he and his cousin came over and said "hey let's go!". The Australian guy looked at me and he asked, "Your friends?". I just nodded like a scared little girl, and tadah! They rescued me. Hahah. they were both really nice, and they were from Malaysia! What a small world. They were around my age too. :) The 3 of us ended up waiting in the casino for abit while I waited for Julius. And after awhile, he finally came! Heh, will never forget those 2 very kind and helpful Asian boys! :)

DAY 9 - Haircut
.........................................

So on Day 9 of my Perth Trip, Julius and I headed to Town again because he wanted to cut his hair! Honestly guys, my whole Perth trip is not really full of adventure. Like I said, it was a very homely kinda experience. I didn't do alot of things I had wanted to but oh well.. I guess that'll have to wait till my next visit hopefully.

Saw this beautiful building called the London Court.

This totally reminds me of Diagon Alley from Harry Potter! They had an array of shops inside London Court.

Why can't the buildings in Singapore be as pretty? :/

The train station.

Saw this place that totally shocked me. How cool, people just lay down here?!

Yesyes I wore the same thing from my Fremantle post. Pffttt don't judge! I can't bring my whole wardrobe with me and I was looking for comfort and THIS OUTFIT IS HELLUVA COMFY. ^^

So Julius finally got his haircut. haha.

Like one soccer player la!! Haha!

After the haircut, we walked around for abit to source for a place to eat at for dinner!

Saw Hog's Breath Cafe and decided to dine in there! :) We were in the mood for Steak!

The whole decoration of the restaurant is superb I must say. Really really nice ambience. 5/5

The dimness was just right also! :)

My lovely steak with mushroom cream sauce, salad, mash potato and Calamari!! By far the best steak I've ever tasted in my life. The meat was so succulent, juicy. It was soft yet not too soft. Very nice and chewy and the meat was just so full of flavour! There was not much fat in the steak also! Yummz.

After that, we had DESSERT! I don't know what got into us but we were feeling quite adventurous and so we decided to try this 8 scoop ice cream with a slice of mudpie cake at the bottom of the bowl!

SIAO RIGHT? IT WAS HUGE! Like, it was bigger than my face la! But it was insanely good! There were even marshmallows!

Just look at how huge that is!! Julius and I couldn't even finish it la. hahah

The leftovers.

So after dinner.. as usual Julius left for work, and I took the bus back to the apartment! :)

Oh and did I tell you how Perth is so much more beautiful at night? Well it really really is! :)

Sigh I miss it so much already. I pray I can make a second trip there next year! Got my fingers crossed. Till the next blog entry! My fingers are hurting from all the typing! And it's back to my mugging session now. xoxo

Lots of Love,
