Perth - Day 1
.....................................................

So the day finally came. The day I'd finally leave the country and head over to beautiful Perth. The decision to leave the country was so sudden that it was still pretty unbelievable that 2 weeks later I'd be in a foreign land all by myself.

Sleeping the night before was almost impossible because I was just so excited that the whole night I was pretty much tossing and turning in bed. The only places I've been to are Malaysia, Indonesia(Bintan & Bali), Thailand(Bangkok) and I guess that's pretty much about it.

I never knew my parents would agree to such a trip. All I remember was feeling really upset and I rememeber telling myself that I needed to get away for awhile, and the first place that came to mind was Perth, since I do have a few friends over there as well. No one in particular that I wanted to meet, I just felt safer knowing that I had friends there, and thus the reason why I chose to fly off to Perth. Another reason was because of the University of Western Australia. Since I pretty much have already set my heart on trying out for that university next year, if all goes well, I thought it'd be a good chance for me to check out the University by myself too to see how the campus is like. :)
After talking things through with my parents, although they were a little reluctant, they knew I needed to get away. This is why I love my parents so much. We have our fights here and there, our little arguments, but at the end of the day, the two people who understand me the most are my parents.

So when the day finally came, I was scared I admit, but I was so excited that waking up in the morning didn't seem to be a problem at all, unlike other school days.

I was so happy that some of my friends actually came down to send me off! :)
Brandon, Louis, Melissa and my older brother Omar. :)

My parents came at a later time. My younger brother couldn't make it cos of school but he remembered to give me a goodbye hug and kiss on the head before he left for school. :')

Omar and I! :) siblings for life.

Louis Tan my favourite boy! :) hahah always so nice to me! really an awesome friend lah this one. When I was sad, he came over to surprise me with Ice cream. :')

Forever a clown. hahaha

Cool boys!

& I thought Mr Bean was funny. nice face Brandon. hahahaha

So anyway before my flight we all had an early lunch at Swensens! :)

I introduced the Mussel dish to Brandon and I don't know what's so bad about it but the guys seem to hate it because they say it just looks gross. They kept saying it looks like 'lips' the whole time. I don't know what the hell they are even talking about lah.

See I finished most of it! So yummy!! Especially with the melted cheese on top! To enjoy this, you gotta put the whole thing in your mouth at one go then chew!

And guess who I saw at Swensens too?

I saw my ex boyfriend's mother and Kak Diah and the kids! I was soooo happy to see them all my face literally just lit up lah and I immediately went over to give them a hug! My mum and dad came at the exact timing too. The world's too small la! Hahah! Boy oh boy do I miss Makcik and her cooking, and disturbing Kak Diah and playing with the kids! Time changes everything man. God knows when I'll ever get to see them again. :'(

Seeing them before I left for Perth was honestly an extra bonus. I left with an even bigger smile on my face knowing I said goodbye to people who mean alot to me.

I realize I have very small eyes when I smile. It really is like this ^_^ hahaha

Russell came down too after awhile. :)

Wannabe boyband? hahaha at Russell!

After that we headed over to the Budget Terminal because I had to check in my luggage! The weight was seriously a killer! I brought 3 bags with me. 1 Luggage for 1 clothes. 1 big bag for Shoes and another big bag for smaller bags. hahaha. So eah, 1 for everything. :P

After checking in, all of us sat down at Macdonalds and that's when the major camwhoring started. I probably have over a hundred photos just at Macdonalds alone because my brother and the rest of the boys kept fiddling with my camera.

My brother was fascinated with the Happy Meal toy from Melissa's meal. haha

overworked NUS Student.

My mummy and I :D

So after Maccy D's, it was finally time to leave everyone and venture out on my own. My flight was at 3.50pm. I went into the departure hall at around 3.10pm which left me with some time to shop in the Duty-free area.!

I have to admit when I got in I was so nervous because I was so afraid I'd end up missing my flight or something so I ended up being a kiasu Singaporean and made sure I reached the Departure gate at least 20-30 minutes before. Hahah

It was honestly a very scary feeling. Flying alone. I felt really lost among all these adults, most of whom were Australians flying back to their home country I presume. It was scary knowing that I was the only kid who was flying alone. Everyone else had someone with them.

Was super excited when I finally saw the aeroplane! :)
We had to walk up the stairs on our own. Can you see the stairs in the picture beside the aeroplane? Yeah.. we had to walk outside and up the stairs to board the plane. Never did that before. Hahha, well I guess that's why it's a budget terminal. :P

The plane wasn't as bad as what I read in the reviews. The plane was pretty nice. Although it was small, it was good enough and I felt safe being in the plane. Aside from the minimal leg space whilst sitting, everything else was still alright. :)

Up up and away! :) It was a 5 hour flight! Anyway when I said minimal leg space I really meant minimal leg space. Hahah, beside me was a Caucasian man and an Indian man. The space was so minimal that when I needed to get out of my seat to use the toilet, the caucasian guy had to stand on the seat in order to let me out. It was pretty hilarious I couldn't help but laugh to myself when he did that. hahahaha.

So dinner was served at 6.30pm(of course you have to order). I ordered the Black pepper chicken and rice meal which was about $10 along with a can of iced peach tea which summed up my $13 dinner.

When the plane finally touched down I was sooo happpy! The first thing I saw was a lighthouse and you had nooooo idea how freaking excited I was getting. I was all "Omg!!! THERE'S A LIGHTHOUSE!! OMG!". Hahaha only because there are noo real lighthouses in Singapore so yeahhhhhh.

So Julius came to pick me up from the airport! :) Oh yeah did I mention how freaking cold the weather was? I came unprepared. I didn't know it was oing to be that cold honestly. The temperature was 9 degrees the night I landed and look at what I'm wearing guys. I was literally shivering and shaking. hahah, sorry ah, not used to the weather lah. The coldest I've ever experienced besides 'Snow City - but it doesn't count cos it's not real weather if you know what I mean', is Genting Highlands. :P

The minute I saw Perth. I loved it. I didn't care how dead the place looked. How deserted the streets were, how dark the streets were, I loved it almost immediately. The smell of the air was the most wonderful thing I've ever smelt in all my 19 years of living. It was so fresh I couldn't help but close my eyes each time I took a breath.

So the first night was spent celebrating my arrival at Perth so Julius and his friends brought me to some club. I forgot the name of the club but I loved the place nevertheless! Hahah.

When do you ever see buildings like these in Singapore? Like never?
The cover charge was only $10 too! Soo cheapppp.

Dance floor was pretty empty when we first arrived but the crowd started filling out the floor as time passed. :)

So after partying for a little bit, all of us headed over for some Kebabs. Perth has loads of Kebab places by the way if that's one thing I realized. I never really was a fan of Kebab but after trying the Kebabs in Perth, I crave for Kebabs every now and then now. hahah! It was really good.

"Kebabways".

How often do you actually see a Kebab store in Singapore? Almost never?!

Hahah the one thing I love about Aussies is just how 'tak malu(not shy)' they are. Hahah!! There I was taking pictures of my friends and these 2 boys were already posing for the camera. hahahah

Though I don't smoke, this is just too cool. hahah

so is this!

See the difference between Perth and Singapore? This was after clubbing hours. If it was Clarke Quay, the whole place would be filled with people! Oh and one thing about Perth, taxis are really rare to come by so you always have to call a cab(usually), unless you're lucky enough to spot an empty cab. The cabs there are really expensive too! For example, if I wanted to get from Bedok to Simei, in Singapore it'd probably cost me about $5 plus. In Perth, that same distance would probably cost you over $20 bucks. Every cab ride is so expensive because the meter jumps like mad, almost every few seconds it jumps up 10 cents.

So that pretty much summed up my first day in Perth. I landed late so there was nothing else to do but club anyway. After that, all of us crashed and slept the night away! :)

Till the next Perth entry guys! Hope you enjoyed reading this!

P.S I'm blogging this even when I'm still in Perth. Haha, currently in St. Catherine's College now in the guest apartment. heh. I'm having Orange juice and Doritos chips as I'm typing this.

Lots of Love,
