Hi guys! So the 2nd day of Perth, I moved into Sheryl's crib because she was nice enough to let me sleep under her roof for 4 nights! The first night was spent at Gloria's along with everyone else who went clubbing the night before. It was probably too late to bug Sheryl at 5am in the morning. So I slept all the way till 8am and then took a cab over to Sheryl's. & Although Gloria's place was pretty near Dianella, the cab fare was still a whopping $27 AUD or probably more. I can't even remember. But that's pretty expensive because even in Singapore, I don't remember ever having to pay that much for cab fare. Oh well, I've been warned. Julius kept warning me that if you don't have a car in Perth, it'd be pretty hard to get around because even buses and trains take a long time to come.
Unlike Singapore where you probably only have to wait about 10 to 15 minutes(sometimes less) for every bus; in Perth, buses come every 45 minutes to over an hour. If you're lucky, maybe 30 minutes. The same goes for trains. I didn't realize how traveling around would be so hard, especially on my own. I guess I overestimated myself. I was so confient that I'd be able to get anywhere on my own that, that thought kinda got planted in my head till I reached Perth. Well, that was till I realized how scary traveling on your own can be. To not know your whereabouts, how to get to the nearest bus stop, what bus to take, who to ask for help(Aussies intimidated me. Probably because of how different I was from them. In terms of appearance and looks), to not know where on earth you are. I'm pretty grateful though to Julius and Sheryl who were so nice to bring me around. Through them, I made plenty of new friends, some of whom you'll get to see in upcoming blog entries.
So yeah, let's carry on with this blog entry shall we? :)
Sheryl's apartment! :)
So the moment I got to Sheryl's rented apartment in Dianella, I was shown to my room.... Wanna see it?
. . . . . . . . . . .
Kay this is all my stuff. Hahah looks alot? But it really wasn't! Okay so yeah... here's where I slept...
. . . . .
TADAH!!
Yup. that was it. Hahah. Just a mattress. Didn't have a door to it either but I'm not complaining because it was really a very cosy spot! haha really! :D Oh and even though I was indoors and all covered up, I was still freezing! Didn't realize how cold Australia could get. Like I had 2 layers of clothes worn and even thick stockings and I was still feeling cold. Nights get even colder so thankfully I've a heater in my room to keep me warm. The thought of air conditioners made me cringe. haha
So after getting used to the house.. walking around.. checking out the rooms and stuff.. I cooked myself a meal. :D
Hahah. CURRY MAGGI! Sheryl went off to school so I had the whole house to myself since her housemate wasn't home either!
Plugged in my laptop and used Facebook! After which I went outside to check out the neighbourhood for abit.
I just love how blue the sky is. I couldn't spot a single cloud in the sky! Sooo beautiful!
The roads were also pretty empty. This part of Perth(where Dianella is - think it's the North) is pretty much a dead place. I walked down the road and I couldn't spot shops anywhere which kinda disappointed me I guess since I was looking forward to grocery shopping without having to take the bus. :P But too bad I had to anyway.
All of the houses on the street pretty much looked like this. Some were bigger, some were smaller, some had garages, but all of them were single storey-ed houses. It's really rare to see double storey-ed houses in Perth, or high rise buildings(like HDB flats in Singapore... unless you're in the city).
Isn's this just cool? This is the coolest mailbox I've ever seen fullstop. Hahah.
The trees there are so nicely shaped and well maintained, unlike the bigass ones we have over here in Singapore.
The outside of someone's house. Really pretty huh?
So after taking some pictures of the neighbourhood, Kevin(one of Julius's friends came over to pick me up and drive over to meet Julius)
Things like these fascinate me so much because I've never seen trains on the road before. There's even a traffic light and a barrier for cars to drive past once the train is gone. This is too Hollywood movie-like. DAMN COOL!
Meet Kevin! :) the camera shy boy. haha he's only 17 and he already has a car and a driver's license. The legal age to drive a car is like 16 years old in Perth and the cars there are really cheap. With $3000, you can get a car already! Some even as cheap as 1.5k. If I study in Perth, I'm sooooo gonna get a car man because taking the taxi is crazy expensive and waiting for the bus or train can literally drive you insane. hahah! A CAR IS A MUST IF YOU'RE IN PERTH. That, I've learnt the hard way(throughout my stay in Perth of course).
cold cold weather, thus the need to cover up! Thank God I brought leggings at least because I didn't bring any jeans or long pants with me. :(
Another thing I found really cool was that most of the shops there had their own building to it. Unlike Singapore, where you have many shops in one building usually or shops that are at the bottom of a high rise building, the shops in Perth are usually situated on their own. Like I saw a supermarket that was a building on its own. How cool is that?
After awhile, Julius finally came! :)
On the way to the mall nearby! :)
The carpark was located directly outside the mall(like in the picture above).
The Centro Galleria.
Sheryl and Julius were right when they told me that the North of Perth would be pretty dead. The mall was pretty empty too.
And we all sat down for some food! I was so happy when I saw Asian food!! I even saw "Singapore Hokkien Mee" but I didn't go for that. I was warned that the Asian food there would be nothing as compared to the ones we have back home. So to play safe, I went with Thai food. And even that, Julius warned it'd taste quite horrible.
And true enough... he was right. Hahah. this does not even look like Phad Thai. And my meal costed me $15 AUD plus(including my orange juice), which is really expensive for hawker centre kinda food. But I guess that's the thing I'd have to get used to. The crazy expensive food prices as well. haha.
Went shopping for a bit too and bought some chocolate home for my family! :)
Haha before this picture was taken, Juls, Kev and I saw this lady who couldn't drive for nuts. See the red car above? She hit the side of Kevin's car and scratched it. Hahah, she's damn unlucky though because when that happened, we were already walking towards the car so Kevin managed to confront her. The lady was helluva funny I swear.
Even though she already hit Kevin's car and scratched it, she still asked Kevin to move so she could park. And even so... that went horrible because she obviously doesn't know how the hell to drive(how on earth did she get her license?) because she ended up hitting Kevin's rear view mirror which got him even angrier. He was like "Oi, what the hell you doing mate?" HAHAH. unlucky day for the lady or what. Thankfully he managed to get hold of her identification card so he can claim insurance for the car :P
After that Kevin dropped Julius and I at Sheryl's. We chilled in the apartment first while waiting for Sheryl to get back from school before the 3 of us headed over to Northbridge(the more happening part of Perth - alot of night clubs, pubs, bars, even strip clubs are located here).
Took the bus for the very first time. Sheryl actually got me my very own bus card! :D THANKS SHERYL!
Sat down for a drink and dinner at one of the bars there. Sheryl and Julius had a beer while I had a coke!
The burger is HUGE!!
Bad move to wear something like this out. I ended up shivering all the way. And my feet were in so much pain from wearing my new pair of pumps I ended up having to buy socks to ease the pain. Hahah. I looked so stupid though. :P
Police on bicyles? You'll never see that in Singapore!!
3RD DAY IN PERTH ................................................
So on the 3rd day, I woke up in the morning, got showered and dressed, went to the kitchen to see Sheryl making pancakes for breakfast. So I joined her! hahah
I'll make a good wife someday. hahah!
See how nice my pancake looked! :D
As compared to Sheryl's. HAHA!
After that, Julius came all the way from home to Sheryl's to hang out with us. Awww.... the cab fare costed him a bomb but he still came anyway! :)
So this time, we went to the more happening part of Perth. The city area! :)
The place was pretty happening like they said it would be. I really liked the city! There were quite a few buskers and street acts as well! One of which is the man in the picture below.
He was standing there dancing. I managed to take a video of him too! HAHA. SO FUNNY LA.
After walking around for abit, we headed to Nando's for some food! :)
I enjoyed the chicken alot! It was super delicious and the portion was so huge for 1 plate that the 3 of us shared it. It looks small in the picture above but trust me, it was huge! Hahah. We ordered the chicken with the spicist chilli sauce and even that wasn't spicy. Australians sure can't handle chilli very well. They should try Sambal Belacan or chilli padi. hahah!
We went over to Prada after that because Julius wanted to do some shopping!
I really look like some small girl here.
The buildings around the city is really beautiful as well! :)
Even though almost everyone in Perth wears shades out in the day, everyone is still very covered up because of how cold the weather is! There's still sun but it's not humid and yeah... still cold, and I mean.. really cold. My skin got so dry after just 2 days! So if you ever go to Perth, please pleaseee bring along with you some moisturizer and body lotion! You'll need it, trust me. I thought I wouldn't have to use lotion at all, but the weather made my skin so dry, I used it at least twice every day.
Ahhh!! I wish the sky in Singapore was as blue!
So after hanging out in the city, Sheryl and I headed back to the apartment and Julius headed for work! :)
But the day didn't end there! At night, I got introduced to Sheryl's friends and all of us headed to the club! heheh.
I must have bee crazy dressing like this in the cold.
So happy I made friends there! Here's a picture of me with Debbie and Christabel. Two of whom are my good friends now! I miss them so much now :(
We claimed to be Perth bestfriends. HAHA!
And that's Reuben in the middle! Damn I miss this fella too! :(
There was no entrance fee at all in this club which is super cool because Singapore always charges for everything, and it is honestly really refreshing that for once, I didn't have to pay to have some fun. :D
So of course.... Sheryl... would bring me to a Gay & Lezbo club. Hahah! Luckily there were plenty of other straight people there too! But it was abit weird seeing guys make out I admit. o.O
The night was really fun! I had tons of fun! Kristian and his friends soon joined us after as well! :D Oh and I swear Aussie people are super open. I was on my way to the toilet and this Aussie dude suddenly grabbed my hand, looked me in the eye and told me he loved me. Waddafak!? LOL. I just said "Oh okay.. uh.. love ya too..." and quickly walked away. HAHA. weird encounter or what.
After clubbing, all of us(it was quite a big group. too bad I didn't take a picture), headed over to Uncle Billy's a chinese restaurant for some supper! :) And then all of us headed home to crash! woohoo! Super awesome day I must say. THE NEXT DAY ...........................................
The next day was a super lazy day for me so I slept in a little, lazed around the house while Sheryl was away in school, used the internet, ate and slept a little more. At night, I met up with Julius and we headed to Burswood for dinner! :)
Okay I felt a little underdressed. I didn't expect everyone to dress so nicely there. Hahah.
Oh we met this old man who told Julius he had the most beautiful girl the room and asked him if I was his wife. LOL! WTF. HIS WIFE?! DO I LOOK THAT OLD?:( But i was really flattered with what he said lah. like super flattered. He just made my day. super sweet old man. I hope he lives a long life!(HAHA. just cos he praised me. but no, seriously. he was rlly sweet).
The Casino place! :) What Burswood is pretty much famous for. haha.
After that we headed over to some club to meet up with his friend James! :) Who reminds me so much of Michael Jackson for some reason.
Before Michael Jackson became white of course. Hahah.
So that sums up this entry! :D Many many days ahead to blog about! The next entry there'll be over a hundred pictures so be prepared for a really long ass blog entry!
