Sup people! Time for a proper blog entry! I apologize for not updating as often. Too busy with exams! I've one more major project that's due this Friday and then I'm a free bird! Well not really lah.. since projects are still ongoing. Honestly, I can't wait to graduate already!
Anyway, somewhere earlier last month, I was asked byShiGGa Shay, one of Singapore's finest local rappers(who is really really talented, not even kidding) to perform with him at Red Camp. A super hyped up event that happens every year at Ngee Ann Polytechnic! We were to perform in front of a crowd of about 1500 people? I'm not too sure but roughly that amount I guess. I was really excited when I got the offer and without having to think twice, I immediately agreed to do it!
As the day of the performance drew nearer and nearer, the butterflies in the pit in my stomach also grew. I started feeling really nervous! Only because I had never sung in front of such a large crowd before. I sang for my school's pageant contest(Mr & Ms NYP - which I managed to get 2nd runner up in the end. hehe, better than nothing), but even for such a prestigious event like that, I doubt there were even a thousand people in that room. Hahah so obviously I was starting to get cold feet! And guess what made it even worse? I became sick a few days before the concert!!! How unlucky('suay' more like it) right?
I even had to record the studio version of the song whilst being sick.My voice would crack halfway while singing or sound really strained. I even grew breathless quite fast. As a result, I had to ask the doctor for the strongest, cough, sorethroat and flu medicine there was. Got better a little bit, but still... would've been so much better if I didn't even fall sick. During the recording, Shigga Shay aka Jin had to keep making for me hot water with honey to soothe my throat. I think I had like 3 cups? HAHA! So here's how it sounds like! (Turn your volume up!)
I still feel like I could've done soooo much better! Wonder if you guys could hear that I was sick(nose was blocked). If you can't, then i guess it's a good thing! Phewww. :D
Oh and I don't know why I even decided to use that 2nd picture of me in the video. I look like some duck. HAHA. what was i thinking?!
After the actual recording of the song, we had jamming practice as well! :) Met his band members for the first time too! Really nice people!

So the day of the performance finally came! :) So right after school, I got all dressed up and headed down to Ngee Ann Polytechnic! Had butterflies in my stomach throughout the entire journey.

For those of you who've ever been to NP's Red Camp before, you'd probably be familiar with the team names Ninjas, Apaches, Spartans, Vikings and Centurions! I was a former Red Camper myself years ago, and up till today I can still remember it so clearly. Honestly the best camp I've ever been to in my life!
So as the clock ticked and the hours passed, the performance drew nearer and nearer....
The crowd outside was pretty crazy and they were all REALLY LOUD!!!
Shan and Rozz were the hosts for the night too :)
Sadly, this is the last of my pictures from that night. I didn't manage to snap any photos of me performing. :( But! ShiGGa Shay had 2 videographers who helped film the entire thing, so hopefully it'll be up soon, and when it is, I'll share it with you guys!
It was insane though. The experience was surreal and nothing that I've ever experienced before. ShiGGa Shay rocked the entire show as usual! He got the crowd cheering for him, snapping photos, screaming and whatnot!
When 'Nothin' on you came on, the crowd went even more crazy! The crowd weren't even allowed to stand up, but the moment Nothin' on you came on, everyone was up on their feet!! I came in during the chorus and boy oh boy did I not expect anything that I experienced that day.
What I expected was probably just a crowd who'd sit down quietly and watch the performance. But what Shigga and I experienced was out of this world la. They were jumping up and down, screaming and cheering! There were people who did the 'heart sign' with their hands when I looked at them! MANY OF THEM had their hands stretched out just so I could touch their hands. A few didn't even want to let go!! LOL. It was crazy! For a moment, it felt like I was really some pop star. HAHAH. but it'd be damn funny if they were all thinking 'who's this girl?'. I bet that's what they were thinking la. HAHAHA. but who cares? I experienced the best 5 minutes(felt like forever on stage) of my life singing the song with ShiGGa Shay! And I'm so happy that I even got such an experience. It was phenomenal. Probably something I'd never ever forget for the rest of my life.
When I left the stage, I was feeling happy and yet really sad because if I could... man I'd do it all over again! :(
So thanks Jin for the opportunity! And thank you FemmeX for the outfit! :)
And of course, thanks to the amazing crowd that night!
