My New 'Baby' !
.............................................................................

So I've had my new SLR with me for quite some time now and I have to say I'm absolutely loving this new toy! I have to admit though that I'm still quite a newbie with the functions. The only camera I've ever had was my Canon Digital camera before this one. Everything was really simple though, I didn't have to worry about ISO settings, scene selections and so on, because everything was always automatically adjusted for me. The first time I got this camera, I did feel a slight pinch of regret I admit, having not bought just another simple digital camera.
But then, the more I got used to this camera, and the more I played around with the functions, I began to love it more and more.

I won't say the quality is as fabulous as a DSLR, but I've to say that the quality is good enough to justify the fact that it is an SLR(better than a digital camera in terms of photo quality).
All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with my camera so far! :D

THINGS TO CONSIDER:
..........................................................

I think it's really important to know exactly what kind of camera you're looking for before you buy one. So.. what are some of the things you should do before you actually make the final decision to purchase the camera?

1) Have in mind the "Purpose" and the "Performance" of the camera that you want. If you're a person who has no need for a DSLR, then don't get one just because everyone is getting one. Get a camera that will cater to your needs. Get a camera that will match the purpose and the performance you're looking for.

2) Plan your budget! There are many cameras ranging from all sorts of prices. Some may even cost $2000 and above! Firstly, ask yourself. Do you really feel there's a need to get such an expensive camera? If you're just a student, get a camera that you can afford. Unless your budget is the sky, you've got to think carefully what you want to invest in.

3) After doing to the above 2 it's time to review potential cameras that fall within your budget, your performance need and the purpose of the camera you're looking for. Go to a store that sells loads of cameras for you to see and test out. The one I went to was Courts Megastore at Tampines. There, you'll find a whole range of cameras for you to play and test with. Don't be shy to ask the salesperson for recommendations, the hottest buys, the camera functions etc.

4) Before you leave the store, have in mind the top 2 or 3 cameras you wish to purchase. (Do ensure that you've already tested the cameras out for yourselves) Ask for things if there are any special features, etcetc.

5) Go home and check the internet for the product reviews of the shortlisted cameras you've finalized. Hearing from the perspective of someone who already has the camera really aids in the choosing process, because sometimes, as much as a salesperson may know the product... believe me, the customers know it better because they're the ones who bought the cameras.

6) If you've any photographer friends, ask them for help. As for me, I went around asking my photographer friends if the camera I intended to buy was good or a no go.

7) Search Youtube for product reviews too if you must. That's what I did! Hehe

8) When you've finally finalized the camera you want, it's time to go back to the store to then..

MAKE THE PURCHASE! :D

Do heed my advice. Cameras can look really cool and nice on the outside, but at the end of the day, what you really want is Quality of the picture. So sometimes it's not really all about the packaging.
(TIP)

......................

I hope the above helped in some way! :) Anyway, the bottom part of this entry are just some random pictures that I took when I first got my camera! Still playing around with the functions! There are still quite a few functions I'm rather unsure of using. Hopefully... with time, I'll improve my skills. My interest with Photography has really caught up on me these days, I find myself so fascinated by it that I'm so tempted to get my own DSLR and go into that kind of work. Well, just for fun. Taking beautiful photographs makes me really happy!

These are all unedited by the way. These are the raw pictures, unless otherwise stated so.

RAW PICTURES. Really loved the lighting here. It was taken in a lift.

I even brought my baby with me to school!

There's this really cool mode called the 'Sweep Panorama' where I'm actually allowed to take really wide photos. I don't know how to explain it but maybe I will in future. I wanna take more photos using that camera function to show you guys! This function was one of the reasons why I decided to get this camera too!

Then, I met up with my boyfriend! :)

I love the fact that the camera is able to focus on the subject in a way where the background is slightly blurred out.

No editing done to the above picture whatsoever.
It's a really beautiful shot right? :D
......................

So yeah, the above were some of the shots I took with my new camera! Absolutely loving it, FOR NOW. But right now, I'm reallllly tempted to get my hands on a digital camera and DSLR. So, that'll make 3 cameras. A different camera for a different occasion.

This SLR can be used if I carry a slightly larger bag(medium sized).
A DSLR can be used if I have any special or important events to attend.
And like.. a digital camera if I ever wanna carry just a small purse with me when I head out.

Hahaha, i want EVERYTHING LA! tsk..

What do you think? Is it practical to get 3 cameras?

Lots of Love,
Sofia Dendroff
