Arabian Nights (Shuhana's 21st) ......................................................................
So my friend Shaheena invited me to her sister Shuhana's birthday that was held in Furama Hotel. The ballroom if I'm correct. The theme for the birthday was basically 'Arabian Nights', but sadly I couldn't find anything to wear.... :( Sigh, and it's so hard dressing for the theme without having to spend money on a costume. I was pretty much on a tight budget during that period, and therefore, I was the thorn among the roses for the night. :(
(Taken with my blackberry)
So I met up with Falila in the hotel lobby, and soon after Shaheena picked us up and brought us to the birthday room! I was instantly blown away when I saw how freaking grand it all looked! My mouth literally dropped open! Hahah. The decorations were soooo pretty! It was just all so high class, especially with waiters all nicely suited up as well to serve the guests for the night. Shuhana's so lucky!!
JUST LOOK AT HOW GORGEOUS SHAHEENA LOOKS! :D AHHH. I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS LOOK. From the hair to the makeup to the clothing and accessories! She looks like some Arabian Princess, doesn't she? :D
And yeah of course when I went in, I felt like the odd one out, because everyone there knew each other(pretty much a family gathering+a small group of Shuhana's friends). But thankfully, everyone was really nice! :) Oh and did I mention how everyone was so beautifully dressed? I wanted to take pictures of all of them, but I thought it would have been weird if I were to go up to people I didn't know at all and to ask "Hi can I take a picture with/of you?. Hahah, and so when they weren't looking(or maybe they did see), I secretly snapped a few shots. Heh. Hopefully you guys can see their costumes! Uh.. don't bother looking at mine. :P
Didn't know much people there except for Shaheena, Shuhana, Shameemah and Zara. haha, so Falila and I ended up eating peanuts/muruku.

After that we went to the reception to sign the guestbook :)
Little Zara, Shaheena's sister. :)

The official photographer for the night snapped a picture of me, Falila and Shaheena's mum as well. :D
And after that, it was time to head into the BALLROOM! *_*
Why does the birthday feel like a wedding instead? Isn't the decoration absolutely brilliant? I also wantttt :(
Falila and I :D Poly besties since Year 1. ^^
Taken with my Blackberry, thus the poor quality. :P iPhones ftw totally.
I swear I wanted to eat just everything I laid eyes on! But before I could lift a finger, a little voice kept playing at the back of my head. Whose voice?
My mum's. -.- I kept hearing her naggy 'Don't eat so much! You put on so much weight.. blabla... go exercise! blabla... fatass... " etcetc.
I swear sometimes my mum can be the naggiest person alive when it comes to just about everything, but she's most naggy when it comes to my eating habits.
A reader asked me on Formspring, " What is your motivation to work out? "
Well guys... it's my MUM. but not really motivation. I just work out so she'll quit nagging(and also because I know I want to as well - to keep fit and stay healthy). HAHA. But I still love her to death despite how naggy she can be about the food I eat etc(she even makes the effort to cook healthily for me).
Sometimes, it'll be a bowl of broccoli with a slice of melted cheese on top. On other occasions, it'd be broccoli and slices of chicken sausages, carrots, corn. When I'm feeling super healthy & lazy, I just go to 7-eleven and buy a bowl of Caesar's salad.
But of course, I have my days when I just want to eat whatever I want. So, I definitely don't miss out on my noodles, rice and fast food once in a while. I guess the key is to always just moderate what you eat and to always remember to exercise as well. I'll try and do a blog post about this when I have the time. Right now, I've tooo much to blog about. :(
Back to the blog entry.....
Pretty Falila :D LOVE HER EYES!
So after eating a little bit, camwhoring and chatting, Shuhana finally came in the room! (Really like some BRIDE walking down the red carpet).
Just look at her outfit!!! OMG!! :D
Photo credit(above picture) : Hart Photography
So when Shuhana came in, the party started! :) First up it was a little birthday speech from her parents. Aww...
And then.. there was a video montage. :D Everyone looked so cute when they were kids! Gah, I miss being a kid all the time. :(
Then Zara read out a poem she wrote for her sister which made Shuhana all teary eyed. Aw... it was super sweet. :')
After that... it was time to FEAST! :D
I didn't really bother about the 'voice in my head' for the night. Afterall, it's a birthday and the food's free! Who can pass up such an opportunity?(Typical Singaporean me) Plus the food looked too tempting to pass up! Sorry Mum. HAHA. (if you're reading this...)
Yummy! I had a little bit of everything, but made sure I had just a small portion of rice. (TIP TO THOSE WHO WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT/THOSE WHO GO FOR BUFFETS).
Always eat more dishes, and less carbs like rice and noodles if you want to have the tummy to try everything. If you want to lose weight... well, then just avoid the carbs like rice and noodles.
After eating, it was finally time to cut the cake!
Just look at that cake in the centre! Holy macaroniiiiii........
Insanely beautiful cake. I wonder if I'll ever get a cake that'll look this big and grand. I've only had 1 layer birthday cakes my whole life, and never with fondant icing. :(
It looks like plasterscene right? But it's not. That's fondant, a sort of icing! It was pretty nice. Very sweet and sugary tasting on the outside and chocolatey on the inside. I wonder how they cut the cake though...
whoops. eye closed here. haha

I'm totally loving the quality of the photos. :( It totally makes me want to throw away the one I have now and invest in a good camera! Doesn't the quality look amazing?
Camera time in the toilet. If it's something I'll never get about girls.. it's our undying love for taking pictures in the toilet. Why do ALL GIRLS take pics in the toilet? I'm sure all girls do.. at least once in their life. Hahah. Well one things for sure... I'm definitely one of those girls who love taking pictures in the toilet. o.O
I blame the hugeass mirror!
After that, it was back to the party! :D The following pictures will show you parts of what happened throughout the party. There were games, performances and such! The host for the night was pretty entertaining as well, so she managed to really get everyone's attention! :)
But before that... heh... CAMWHORE TIME AGAIN. :P
Playing amongst the balloons.
CANDIT SHOT :D
AND BACK TO THE PARTY!
A dance performance for Shuhana! :D Shaheena was one of the dancers! I swear the taliban guys are hilarious. hahaha. Loving the whole getup!
Look at how happy Shuhana is! :D
I couldn't contain my smile too. Was smiling from east to west like some retard during the entire dance. haha!
There was even a couple dance-off as well! It was so heartwarming to see such a united and happy family. It really makes me pretty envious of the unity they all have(as cousins and all). Like, how awesome would it be if you saw your grandfather or uncle dance in front of you? Definitely, you'd be like 'WOW!' all the way! Hahah.
One of the couples! :D (picture above)
And then there was a special 'COUPLE' as well..
. . . . .
2 boys. haha. But of course, they weren't really a couple lah! It was all just for laughs. But it sure did tickle my tummy! It was so funny watching these two dancing! :)
LOOK AT THEM GO! HAHA!
After that there was a game for the 'Males' as well. What they had to do was to CATWALK individually!
One of the contestants. I think it's probably Shaheena's uncle(not too sure of the relationship, but definitely family).
HE WON THE CATWALK BECAUSE HE WAS SO ENTHU ABOUT THE WHOLE THING!
The Deejay Booth! :) (Playing Arabic, Hindi and English songs)
More games played as shown in the picture above! Contestants had to obtain objects that were stated(for example, lipstick, a glass of water, sock with a hole etcetc), and the first one to get all the items first wins! :)
After that, there was a short break and guests could help themselves to the food once more.
Just look at what Falila was eating! Weird combination(at least to me) Well.. you learn something new everyday huh...
Shameemah. :)
Shuhana's 2nd outfit for the night! She's totally gorgeous! :D And that's her boyfriend beside her. (Future bride and groom?) hehe.
...........................
After that, there was even a short skit that was put up! :) I really love how everyone put so much effort into making the birthday such a memorable one for Shuhana. Uncles writing poems, cousins doing a video montage and helping out at the receptionist counter, dance performance they rehearsed over and over, skits, games they painstakingly organized etc...
So much effort was put into making the party such a success! And indeed it was because I enjoyed myself thoroughly also that I stayed till the end. :) And I'm sure Shuhana had the time of her life as well because she was in disbelief that she was really having such a grand birthday for her 21st! I hope mine is nearly as grand as this one. :(
So anyway, after the birthday celebration, the lights dimmed, the music volume increased, the clubbing lights went on and it was time to PARTY! YAY!
You know what'sEPIC?
Seeing the 2 taliban guys earlier on shuffling on the dancefloor. HAHA!
My face cannot maintain. hahah!!
It was so fun learning new Indian dance moves that Falila was trying to teach me! I absolutely love the Indian culture already! :)
