BAKING COOKIES AND BROWNIES FOR VALENTINE'S DAY!
(BEHIND THE SCENES)
======================
One day, two very loving and faithful girlfriends(ahem ahem, Helen and Sofia) were talking about Valentine's day coming up. Both of them were clueless on what to give to their boyfriends.
Chocolates in a box? asked Helen.
Nah.. too common, replied Sofia.
SUDDENLY, AN IDEA STRUCK SOFIA'S HEAD.
LET'S BAKE!!! , shouted Sofia with much excitement.
Helen replied, OMG SOFIA YOU'RE SO SMART! I WISH I HAD YOUR BRAIN! YES, LETS BAKE!! *does a happy dance*
Okay.. fine that never really happened. BUT YES, THE BOTH OF US DECIDED TO BAKE FOR OUR BOYFRIENDS! :D And mind you, despite being F&N Students back in Secondary school, we were still a little worried that the cookies and brownies will go haywire. And that'll be the end of our Valentine's day gift! !!!!!
But it was worth a shot anyway, we decided to bake on a Thursday at Ain's house (Thank you Ain for letting us use your oven!! :D )despite V-Day being on a Sunday. Why Thursday when it could have been Saturday right?
Well... my idea was... JUSTTTT JUSTTTTTT in case the cookies and brownies turn out like crap, we could still activate PLAN B, which i Guess was never activated SINCE..... *hehe*
READ ON TO FIND OUT :D
So, Helen decided to bake 2 goodies! A brownie for her boyfriend's birthday and cookies for Valentine's day! :D
The picture above is of her using a Pre-made Hershey's Brownie mixture. shhhh, hopefully her boyfriend doesn't see this. HAHAHA.
The mixture tasted super yummy!! Stir stir stir stir.
Next step! ADDING HERSHEY'S CHOCOLATE CHIPS! :)
Hardworking Helen mixing the mixture manually since Ain's electric mixer wasn't working.
Pouring the brownie mixture into the tray! :D
Wheeee, look at how much the mixture rose! :D
THIS WAS TRANSFORMED TO.......

THIS!! :D
HELEN CUT OUT THE BROWNIE IN THE SHAPE OF A HEART. SWEET OR WHAT?
P.S I did the pink frosting on top. She stole my frosting. HAHAHA.
<3>
These were the cookies that Helen made! :D Chocolate chip cookies. Very soft and chewy. Yum yum.
Hahaha, this is something you don't see everyday. Aunty Helen doing the dishes. hahahha!
Sooo anyway, things worked out pretty good for Helen! Sooo next, it was MY TURN!! *gulps*
I only baked cookies btw! I wanted to bake a cake luh but it seemed too advanced for a beginner baker like myself. Cookies were hard enough anyway... :/
Measuring the flour!
Mixing the dough! The mixture was so difficult to mix with a whisk because once I added butter the whisk kept getting stuck to the butter, like in between. So, I decided to use a spoon instead.
Well... THAT worked out great didn't it? -.-
The bloody spoon broke. HAHHAAH.
Tried my luck again using another spoon!
SUCCESS THIS TIME! :D
The dough was really soft! It was really hard to successfully carry the cut out heart shapes from the wooden board to the baking tray without the dough breaking or deforming. Believe me, that small piece of dough took me hours to finish. Hahaha.
Thank goodness these batch turned out okay!! :D
Bakinggg processss! :DButter cookies look gorgeous! :D I sampled a couple and I swear they are super delish! Damn damn damn yummy! :D
And I didn't use any Pre-made mixture! I started from SCRATCH!! :D hahaha, proud of myself *gives myself a pat on the back* :D
My workspace! :)
Helen's workspace! :)
So, the day turnd out good. Who knew that baking from 10am to about 2.15pm still wasn't enough! We had to leave Boon Lay cos school started at 3pm.
Hmm... I have to say, the dough was the most troublesome part I guess.
It was fun lah I have to admit baking with Helen and Ain.
I can't wait to get my own Oven! The one I have at home is really big!! But it's too bad my mum let it rot for years that it stopped functioning one day. :/
I WANT MY OWN OVEN!!! SO I CAN BAKE MORE STUFF.
I've got a new obsession.
Baking. HAHA. I wanna try making cupcakes next. Heh(:
.
So anyway, if you're wondering how I ended up decorating the cookiess....
LOOK BELOW. Please don't laugh if they look fugly! ):
I had a hard time with the icing. It was difficult to squeeze it out onto the cookie nicely. My hands got super messy during the process. Hahaha.
These are the ones I made for my boyfriend. Nicely packed in a Ziplock bag. x)
How is it? =x
They look better in real life though. The quality is kinda sucky here, and the ziplock bag doesn't really do the cookies much justice. :P
The card I made him. HAHAHA.
THE PRESENTS!~ :D
If you think this is sweet, wait till I blog about what THE BOYFRIEND DID FOR ME. Super sweet luh!! :')
I'll blog about it soon!Hopefully if I've the time, I'll blog about it tomorrow.
Gotta blog about what happened on V-Day too!
:)
STAY TUNED! :D
Lots of love,
