Winners never give up ...............................................
Don't you ever wonder how intelligent human beings are, to create so many gadgets, devices etc, that most would have thought impossible? The lightbulb for example, how did one single person create the lightbulb? Because why? Thomas Edison was a man who had a dream and someone who believed in that dream. He never gave up, and after a thousand over failed attempts, he finally did it. He invented the first electric lightbulb. But of course, I'm not going to be talking about Thomas Edison or lightbulbs. My main point is to say, there are 2 kinds of people in this world. Winners and losers. The difference between them is, winners never give up.
Ever wanted to join a contest but didn't in the end because you were afraid of losing? Afraid of the embarrassment you'd face if you lost? Afraid of being disappointed? Well I can guarantee you that everyone feels this way. It's normal, but what distinguishes a winner from a loser is that a winner isn't afraid to lose. A winner doesn't let one downfall get the best of him or her or determine who he or she can and cannot be. For those of you who have been in touch with my twitter or the newspaper, you probably would have found out that I was one of the Top 24 girls for the Newpaper New Face competition. The journey was definitely an emotional rollercoaster ride because I knew that when I first joined the contest, I had to be mentally prepared. It's good to y'know, believe that you can win a competition, but it's also important to be mentally prepared if you do not, and take it with a pinch of salt, and learn from the experience.
Sadly, I was not fortunate enough to join the Top 20 girls. However, like I said, just because I didn't make it through, it doesn't mean I'm not gonna keep trying. It doesn't mean I'm going to let this get the best of me, or allow others to undermine my capabilities. Everyone loses once in awhile, and to me I guess it just wasn't my luck. But I'm glad that at least I made it to the Top 24 because that was hard enough, and I'm proud of myself because remember what I said in the above? About being afraid to lose? I used to be one of those girls. One of those girls who never dared take chances, who never dared audition for the Drama CCA in my school because I was too shy, who never dared audition for Soundcard(a singing CCA) in my school. Why? Because I was SHY. Winners are never shy. Winners never let their emotions get the best of them. If you want something, you've got to believe in yourself. Fade out everyone else in the picture and think about what is it you want.
For the first time, other than GeneratioNYP, I finally plucked the courage to audition for NPNF, also thanks to my Mum who kept encouraging me all the way through. I know I had always wanted to, but every year it just didn't feel like I was quite ready for it. I guess this year maybe just isn't the right year either. Who knows?Maybe next year? I just want to tell you girls, never give up on your dreams because I know for a fact that if you keep trying, one day you're bound to succeed. Nobody wins all the time. Even Tyra banks one of the most famous Supermodels in the world, has been rejected from various modeling agencies, have been rejected from Castings etc, but did she give up? No she did not.
If you've always wanted to join the NPNF contest but never dared to, go and try it. It's really a good experience, and even if you don't win, hey, at least you know you tried. And just because you didn't make it through the first time if you have tried, it doesn't mean you have to stop trying. Confidence always wins over the judges believe me. :) So to those who've been spammed my Formspring regarding, NPNF, now you know.I've just been meaning to do an entry on it. Hahah.
So anyway, ON WITH THE REST OF THE ENTRY.
So recently, my friends and I caught the movie "Horrible Bosses" at Orchard, Cineleisure, and to those who have yet to watch it, go and watch it if it's still showing! Such a good movie and it was really funny too, second to The Hangover! Another really hilarious movie I watched recently was "Dinner for Schmucks". This was probably the movie I laughed to the most.! GO WATCH IT. :)
Pictures of my beautiful and handsome friends! hahah. This is Ann Magdoza! Really pretty isn't she??
This is JOJO - Jonas Matthew! :)
Melissa Stewart, my friend for uh.. many years! hahah
And our new addition to the group - ALEX HENG. Hahah, of course we have so much more, but the rest couldn't make it.
Anyway before the movie, we were hanging out at Scape, and guess who we saw?
THE MUTTONS! :D I'm not really a fan of the radio, I mean I don't listen to it that much, but I do know about the Muttons to Midnight radio sessions. haha
Cool blonde hair!
Ok, and this brings me to another event I wish to introduce to you guys!
Model For Hope 2011 is a student-led charity event for a student audience, aimed at raising awareness of the plight of victims of human trafficking and sexual slavery. Organised by youths from ACJC, ACS(I) and NUS, the event aims to juxtapose — through the medium of fashion — the comfortable lifestyles of Singaporean youth, with the deprivation, degradation and suffering of modern-day victims of sexual slavery.
Guest performances include Sixx, who are one of, if not, the best Singaporean hip-hop bands around; and DJ Koflow — Singapore’s DMC Champion in 2003, and voted ‘Best Turntablist’ of 2010 by Juice Magazine. All of this will be taking place —perhaps, most fittingly — at Zouk, the legendary heart of Singaporean lifestyle, fashion and entertainment.
Join us on 26 August 2011 at Zouk, and remember to Wear Your Heart Out.
Event Details:
Model For Hope 2011 is on 26 August 2011, 7-9 p.m.
Doors open at 6.30 p.m.
Tickets are priced at $15 (pre-sale) and $20 (door) respectively.
Entry is for all ages. Alcohol will only be served at the Members’ Bar with strict ID checks.
Yup, the event for the details. I just copied and pasted it. Just visit the Facebook event page for more details! And why am I telling you guys about this?
It's because I'm happy to say I made it through the Casting for this, and I'll be one of the Runway models for the event! So I do hope to see you guys there! :D
Bring a banner, bring whistles, whatever you want. COME SUPPORT ME, and if not for me, at least SUPPORT THE CAUSE. HAHAH. Ok maybe the whistles and banner part is a little too much.
