Mini JB Adventures + Updates .......................................................................
Hi all! Just wanna blog about 2 random outings. Both involved Family. You know if there's one thing that I'm really thankful for this year is Family. I know I don't say it enough or tell my parents I really love and appreciate them so much. But the truth is, despite all the little squabbles I have with them, I really do love them so much. And I hate to admit it, but I think they're partially the reason as to why Shafiq and I are still together. It's the fact that he gets along pretty well with my family, and I do with his. And the even better part? My parents get along REALLY WELL with his parents. Hahah, it's weird waking up every morning hearing my mum talking really loudly on the phone. I'd ask, "Mummy, who are you talking to?", and she'd tell me, it's Shafiq's Mum. Hahah, the two of them can talk about so many things it amazes me. And my dad and Shafiq's dad? The both of them are the Cool Dads. Anything goes with them. They both like making jokes and laughing over random things. Hahah. I guess Family does really have a big important part to play in every relationship.
So a piece of advice to everyone out there, Never leave out your family in your relationship, especially if it's serious, because trust me, Family really helps to strengthen a relationship. :) And you never know if they can actually help to lead two people back to each other.
So my parents, younger brother and Shafiq decided to have a Christmas Eve dinner at Swensens. :)
Having my favourite ice cream : Frosted Chocolate Malt! It's sooo sooo sooo sooooo good! Best ice cream in the world! haha
The lights in Orchard Road were absolutely beautiful.
I remember when I was younger, it was always like a family tradition to see the Christmas lights in Orchard every year. But for some reason, as we grew older, the tradition sorta died. :( So happy to be able to do it again after so long with the people I love! If only my older brother was there! He's always sooooooo busy! :P
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! :)
::Mini Johor Bahru Adventures::
So on another occasion, both our parents(Shafiq's and mine), had some really impromptu idea to go to Johor Bahru to eat Satay. Hahah, i know right? Drive all the way there just to eat SATAY?!?! Shafiq's mum's idea! She said JB has some really delicious Satay and Naan! And so, everyone decided to go. And Shafiq and I were dragged along. Hahah k kidding, I was eager to go because I couldn't wait to check out the cheap 'DVDs'. hehe
Would have sat in my Dad's car but because my dad drives a Racing Car, the suspension of the car is really low and so it gets pretty bumpy sitting inside.. so much so, I always get car sick! And so I sat in the car with Shafiq and his parents! :) It was a fun journey because Shafiq and I were being our usual goofy selves at the back of the car. And so Shafiq's dad led the way while my dad tailed him behind, and after about an hour drive or so, we made a pit stop to one of the malls there to do abit of shopping!
Saw a durian stand outside and Shafiq's parents couldn't resist the urge not to buy durians, and so.. they did. haha
Very rare that you ever see me wearing jeans. Hahha, i think I look even tinier wearing them.
After that it was DINNER TIME.
Walked through that...
And we were led to the inside of a food court! And look at what one of the food stall sells!
BURUNG PENYET! That means, Bird Penyet. So instead of chicken, they use birds... Interesting.... They certainly don't have that in Singapore for sure. Hahah.
And while the kids sat down, the adults did the ordering...
Murtabak!
Satay! Shafiq's mum sure wasn't kidding! It was the best Satay I've ever tasted in my life. Hahah!
Naan! I've tried Naan before but I've never tried Naan quite like this one. It was sooo soooooo soft! Super super good! Especially when you dip it in the gravy(Kimah).
Had Sambal Stingray which everyone ate but my Mum. My mum's so funny lah, she's super scared of Stingray because of a petrifying childhood experience, when her mum(my late grandmother), brought home a stingray(already dead of course...) to cook. She said, what scared her so much was the face of the stingray.. it was soo scary looking... and ever since then, she has steered clear of Stingray. LOL.
My dad enjoying the food! "A hungry man is an angry man", so my dad always tells me.
What happened next after dinner was something none of us expected...
EATING DURIAN IN A FOOD COURT?! LOL.
Remember the durian Shafiq's parents bought earlier? Well... I guess they decided to just open it on the spot to eat it(Mostly Shafiq's mum's idea).
Shafiq's dad opening the durian~
Face of Victory! (after finally opening the durian)
TIME TO EAT!!
I was really full after dinner and so I only had the appetite to have 1 piece of durian! :P
After a super filling dinner, all of us headed to the supermarket to do some shopping! :)
Shop shop shop...
I went pretty crazy inside. Hopping from shelf to shelf, taking everything and anything that made me hungry!
After shopping, it was finally time to head back to the car...
Sat in my parent's car this time with my boyfriend keeping me company in case I was car sick, and thank God I had some ointment with me, and so everytime I felt sick, I just had to sniff it. heehee. It really helped.
So that was all for our Mini JB Adventures!! :) ::UPDATES::
Okay and for this part of my blog, just wanna update on a few things. Firstly, I wanna say that my Formspring is up and running. There was one time I tweeted that only registered Formspring users can ask me questions... well in case some of you don't know, I've changed the settings of my account.. and so now, anybody can ask me questions(Appropriate questions please..). I do hope that my replies have helped some of you. I try my best to help everyone who asks for advice, and I apologize if some replies take longer for me to answer than some. Usually I'll answer the ones that doesn't require a long reply first(because they're faster and easier to answer) than those that requires a little bit of thinking. And so if you're still waiting for a reply, I'm sorry! Will get to it! Hate comments or any sort of hurtful/nonsensical questions will just be deleted. Thank you for trying to run me down, but I don't think 'you' deserve any attention at all.
To people who have formspring and who do receive hate comments(I'm sure everyone has had at least one), the best way to retaliate is to always ignore it. Sure it may hurt, but always tell yourself 'So what?'. The fact that someone takes time off their precious lives to have something to say about you, only goes to show how important you must be. Always turn negativity around and look at it on the bright side. A lot of people always ask me how on earth am I so strong despite having hatred shown towards me? I've had girls confronting me about it too(believe it or not- random girls coming up to me). You know what I said after they spoke so much shit in front of my face? I just said "Uh.. okay..", and I turned away. After that, I had a good laugh about it with my friends and my boyfriend. The fact that people do such things only makes them look stupid, especially if you don't even react to it, trust me. LOL. It'd just make them look dumb.
So to people out there, who get bullied... always know that the only one who makes it hard for you, is yourself. If you turn it around and tell yourself, 'so what?' and just totally ignore the situation, you'd be a much happier person. Don't let people tell you what to do or how you should feel. You control that, how you feel, your actions... so never let what other people say about you, get to you. Someone else may call you fat (for example)... but always tell yourself , 'SO WHAT?!'. As long as you're happy in your own skin, why should what they say affect you or matter? And if it does, crying about it won't help would it? DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Run, exercise, do something about it to make yourself feel better about your body.
The reason why I'm addressing the topic bullies is because I often get alot of questions from people asking me how to deal with bullying, and like I've said before(if you've been an avid reader), I've been bullied before too. Been there, done that. It taught me alot though and it made me a much stronger person too at the end of it all. Everything happens for a reason in life. If you're being bullied, God is just teaching you to be stronger. :) ::NEXT UPDATE::
