Hiking at Pulau Ubin .......................................................
Hey guys! So I'm so freaking pissed off right now because this is my second time typing out this blog entry because the last one got erased somehow and I now have to re-blog this entry. Urgh frustrating. stupid blogger.
So anyway last Sunday, Kalebh and I headed to Pulau Ubin for a quick getaway from our sunny island Singapore. We wanted to try something different because you know the usual dinner and movies can get a tad bit boring over time and so, being the sporty and adventurous people we both are, we decided to have a go at hiking! It was pretty much our first time hiking in Pulau Ubin. Next time we're hoping to hike at Kota Tinggi? (hopefully!). I've always been a sporty person. I love outdoor activities. All sorts. Kayaking, hiking, cycling, camping etc... all sorts. But of course just like any other girl out there, or perhaps human being, I'm sure we all hate perspiring. And for some reason, I tend to perspire really easily and so that's the only killjoy for me. But nevertheless, that didn't stop me from a day of being out in the sun. Haha.
Oh do you guys know that cycling in Pulau Ubin is really cheap? For a whopping price of $2.00!!, you get to cycle for the pretty much almost the entire day! How much cheaper do you want it huh? So honestly, if you and your bf/gf are thinking of ways to save money, then Pulau Ubin is the place to go to! Besides cycling, you can even kayak or go for a fish spa! :) Think about it... cycling for only $2.00... even if you were to combine the cost price of going to Pulau Ubin which is $2.50 by bumboat, that'd be $4.50 in total. Whats $4.50 for a whole day of cycling as compared to around $8 just to rent a bicycle at East Coast Park? Not worth it isn't it? Furthermore, the cycling route at ECP does get a little boring after awhile.
Oh and if you do intend to head on over to Pulau Ubin, please don't forget your insect repellent, sunblock(Over exposure of sunlight will put you at risk of getting skin cancer in the long run, so sunblock is really important!) and sunglasses because it can get really sunny! :)
And if you're thinking of hiking, please don't forget to wear proper shoes because there are plenty of rocks on the floor and steep slopes to climb so use proper shoes. As for me, I wore my sports shoes!
So anyway I'm not going to ramble on and on anymore. I actually recorded a video of the outing to Pulau Ubin from start to end. Of course, it's already shortened by alot in video. Hahah, so if you're bored and you want to hear my annoying voice, hear Kalebh and I doing camp cheers, us hiking and etc, then by all means, feel free to watch the video! :D
Taking the bumboat!
And after a 10 minute boat ride, we finally reached!
Lunch! ok gosh, my hair is so messy here.
Salted vege and tofu soup!
Sambal Kangkong which is my absolute favourite!
Fried chicken.
haha omg, first time seeing a sampan! Everything's so old in Pulau Ubin. It really feels like you're in a village.
Hiking.
View from the top.
Me with braces!!! :D
So we left at around 7 or 8-ish? Super fun day overall. Kayaking is next for Kalebh and I! Absolutely can't wait! :D
