A Malay Wedding ......................................................
Marriage. Such a beautiful thing. The marriage of 2 families and 2 people who are so very much in love. As a little girl I used to dream about marrying a prince. I'm sure we've all had those days right? Days you wished that maybe one day some mysterious person would appear on your doorstep to tell you you're a princess or perhaps even a prince in actual fact. Kinda like what happened in that movie "Princess Diaries".
20 years I waited, but to no avail. K fine, not really. I didn't really wait, that would be pretty retarded. But....I guess my dream of ever being a real-life princess will never come true. Hahah bummer. :(
Well, at least for about 10 years or so of my life, I revelled in that 'dream'. It was pretty fun playing dress up as a kid too.
My brothers and I playing dress up! Used to look forward going to Toys r Us so much because I'd always pick up a new costume to buy at the costume department.
But who's to say I can't be a princess in this life if I wanted to? At home,I'm pretty much a princess being the only daughter in the house. hehe, my dad spoilt me as a kid I admit, but it's not like I grew up to be Cruella Deville in the end. I'm still very much a grounded person and I have morals and values. I'd like to say I turned out pretty decent. :)
Living in such a modern society where sleeping around is such a norm, I'm glad I didn't turn out to be such a girl.*pats myself on the back*. I'm alright I guess....
So... back to marriage..
Pretty wedding cake, it looks so delicious doesn't it?
Don't you ever wonder who on earth the person you'd be spending the rest of your life with will be?I know I think about that all the time. Sure Shafiq and I talk about it alot, but who knows right? Anything can happen in between. Life's too uncertain to know anything for sure! I may end up marrying a Banglah for all you know! Hahah, not that I've anything against banglahs la! Some of them are really handsome you know!!! Didn't you read the paper about the 22 year old Banglah who looks like some Bollywood star? Hehe.
Marriage is beautiful and yet it is pretty scary I guess. Being bounded to a person for the rest of your life. It's no wonder people have cold feet on their wedding day.
"Marriage is found scary to some people because it is a commitment that you have to make, and some people might be ready for that and some people might not be. They might just want a realtionship where they can date and just have that experience, but some are not sure if they are ready to just be with one person for the rest of their lives or if they want to continue to see others". - Yahoo Answers
But aside from that, marriage is beautiful because it binds two people who are deeply in love together, to have a family together, grow old together... :')
Just recently my uncle got married, and I'm really so happy for him! :) It was a traditional Malay wedding held at the Void Deck, but still nevertheless, it was a beautiful ceremony.
Bride and groom. :)
So sweet.... :')
Isn't it amazing how a plain and boring void deck can be transformed into THIS? (the above). Humans... are geniuses. lol
The kids and I. :)
Mum and Umi. :)
Cousin and I :)
Brother, mum and I :)
This is exactly what I mean... grow old together... I don't know about you... But it makes me so happy seeing old couples still living happily together. "Till death do us part"
So that sums up this beautiful wedding ceremony! So, I guess only time will tell who on earth I will actually end up with in years to come. Afterall, I'm barely even 21 yet so I shouldn't be worrying about marriage now. I still want to be a kid and enjoy my youth for now! 21 this year. That's a hugeass number. Never thought the year would come. :( But looks like it has. I do hope time passes a little slower this year because it seems like time is zooming past me, and I am most definitely not loving it.
Congrats again to my uncle! And to anyone of you who are reading this and are 'engaged', do think carefully and ask yourself 'Is this really the person whom you want to spend the rest of your life with?'. Marriage isn't a small issue and it's not something as easy as a break up. So remember, THINK CAREFULLY because your happiness is at stake. :) If you are happy with the decision you've made, well, I am happy for you and congratulations to you as well! :)
